BiblioTECH: the Bibliothèque Schœlcher as a digital twin
In September 2025, the hall of the Bibliothèque Schœlcher in Fort-de-France hosted BiblioTECH, an exhibition by Georges-Emmanuel Arnaud, photographer and director of CARIALITY Studios, shown during the European Heritage Days. Entry was free, with no booking needed.
It starts from the monument’s digital twin. The building was surveyed with a laser scanner (lidar), a surveyor’s tool turned to another use to obtain a point cloud: countless small points that draw the library, inside and out.
From this survey came the Coalescence series: 27 photographs showing a transparent, fragile library, like lace, between poetry and technique. The photographer’s eye (framing, composition, light) works on a new material.
The idea: to bring together old and new, heritage and technology, to see Fort-de-France’s emblematic monument differently, and to keep a precise record of its architecture for future generations.
The same scan turns behind this website.
